How to get Started?

Pick a Style

Choose a format that suits you best. There are a ton of weekly planners you can buy! Between paper planners, digital planners, apps, or templates the possibilities are practically endless! Some even create a weekly planner by the hour or weekly and monthly planners. Choose one that works best for your preferences, needs, and budget. Once you pick one out, why not spruce it up with doodles, stickers, or the like to make it more you?

Make the Time

Set aside some time to plan your week ahead. Ideally, you should plan your week at least a day before your new week starts. (I like to do this on Sunday evening.) This way, you can have a clear overview in mind of what up and coming events you need to do or remember. Some find it helpful to review the previous week. This can help you not to forget to do something two weeks in a row!

Write it Down

Write down your goals and tasks for each day. Based on your priorities, deadlines, and commitments, write down the main goals and tasks that you want to accomplish each day. Try to be specific and realistic, and avoid overloading yourself with too many things. You can also break down larger or complex tasks into smaller or simpler steps, and assign them to different days or hours. Personally, I find it helpful to write my tasks down in the rough chronological order. That way I don’t have to look up and down my list all day; rather I just work down it, one objective at a time. It’s helps me feel less scatter brained.

Make it Happen

Schedule your time and activities. After writing down your goals and tasks, you need to schedule them into your planner. You can use different methods or tools to do this, such as time blocking, color coding, or symbols. You can also allocate some buffer time for the unexpected, and don’t forget the importance of allocating some time for relaxation or leisure! Make sure to balance your work and personal life, and respect your boundaries and limits.

Keep up with Your Progress

Track your progress and adjust your plans as needed, and this is my FAVORITE part: mark off the things that you have completed or achieved! This will not only help you keep organizations but will give you such a sense of accomplishment. Let that dopamine flow and motivate you to keep going. Make sure to savor that sense of accomplishment. Treat yo’ self! On the flip side, if you don’t get everything done that you wanted to, don’t feel defeated of deflated. Your best is all you can ever do!
